Meet our team: Christopher Vincent

Bio

I’m Chris, I’m a second-year Law with English Law student and I’m from Hertfordshire in England. As well as the Head of Charities and Commerce, I’m also the Head of Public Relations for ALP.

Favourite quote?

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” - CS Lewis. I love the works of CS Lewis, especially the way that he expresses his beliefs.

How would you describe your experience of the Aberdeen Law Project?

I’ve found ALP to be incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. I get to work alongside my friends to empower the community, and I am very honoured to be able to say that. It really helped me settle in to Aberdeen and made me feel like I was able to make a difference.

Who or what inspires you?

My mum inspires and has been completely invaluable to me, and I look up to her immensely. Her dedication and work ethic always inspired me to try a little bit harder, and I feel lucky to have such a successful woman as a role-model.

Why do you do pro bono?

I believe that if we are in a position where we are able to help each other, we should always do so. I am very fortunate to be able to use my skills to empower those in need, and I am honoured to be entrusted with helping the local community.

What advice would you give to someone considering studying law at Aberdeen?

Obviously that they should join ALP, it has helped me grow so much professionally and personally, but also to remember that a balance between work and rest is paramount. You can’t afford to focus too much on either one.

Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

In ten years’ time I would love to be getting stuck into my work at a London Law Firm before heading home to my family. Ideally I would also be involved in my local church as my faith is a massive part of who I am.

And lastly, what’s the dream?

The dream is to be in a job that I look forward to go to on a rainy Monday morning, and then come home to a family that make all the stressful parts of work worth it.
